Make up Monday- eyeshadow bases

I was recently asked by a client what I would recommend as an eyeshadow base. There are three different types I use:

1. Prep+Prime Eye is a neutral base that will help prevent shadow from creasing. It like a foundation for the eyelid.
2. Paints- are a great base that come in various colours and prevent shadow from creasing. These are more suited for normal to oily eyelids.
3. Paint pots can bought in different colours & can be used as a base or as a long wearing shadow. These are great in hotter climates as they blend well and have excellent staying power.

Makeup Monday- Red Lips for Spring

The amazing celebrity makeup artist that is Nicola Schuller demoed the new HydraBlur primer by Dermalogica.

Let's get ready to rumble!!! She is a big fan of MAC and the HydraBlur primer because it locks in hydration for hours.

Neutral eyes and vibrant lips are the trend on the Catwalk for this Spring. So Nicola did a mini masterclass on how to get the perfect red lip.

She started with the new Dermalogica HydraBlur primer and then mixed the perfect foundation using a combination of Dermalogica Sheer Tint Light and Dark. Schuller says to 'Apply HydraBlur & mix the residue in with sheer tint. These two will get you through holiday so you can mix the two together as your tan develops.'

Top tip of the day: Use tissue to aid perfect lip liner application. - Nicola Schuller, celebrity MUA

The colours and steps to this ruby red lip up by Nicola Schuuler, 'Then blend with a MAC 263 using Ruby Woo red liner followed by Ruby Woo matte lipstick then Dare You on outer corners and Cupid's bow to add definition. Then a Smash box nude pencil around exterior to hold colour in place.'

Ta Da! Ready for a night on the town thanks to the fabulous founder of Beauty School Dropout and celebrity Makeup Artist, Nicola Schuller

Feature Friday- it's all about brows

I'm It's all about the brow, about the brow, about the brow, no trouble...

Whether it's brow extensions, growth serums or makeup, this season is all about eyebrows!

Eyeshadow applied with a soft round brush to maintain a subtle natural finish. (Makeup by Claire Mulleady)

I went to a MAC cosmetics masterclass at their Carnaby Street store yesterday. They've recently remodeled their Pro Store and have a private demonstration room upstairs. The Senior makeup artist had just got back from doing the International Fashion Week circuit and was full of ideas, insight and inspiration.

Each model had very different brows from an Afro-Carribean well defined eyebrow to an Oriental fine eyebrow. There is a way to add definition to suit all styles- pencil, powder, gel, colored brow mascara are just to name a few.

Even if you use a brow serum such as LiBrow or have extensions to enhance the natural appearance make up is needed to complete the look. MAC's new range has a brilliant array of Colours from fair blonde to red to dark brown. Full eyebrows with a natural finish are trending this season and are a hot topic for next Spring/Summer styles.

Makeup Monday- mascara tips

MAC makeup artist Cher Webb, is a self proclaimed mascara junkie. Here are a few tips from the Pro:

-Always curl lashes to open the eye
- MAC mineralise mascara is a current favourite because it creates a 3-D effect
- create volume and length with a favourite mascara then 'coat lashes with waterproof so the mascara doesn't travel'
- use the tip of the brush to coat the lashes and blend outward with a zig zag sweeping motion to create a liner effect.
