Skin Detox Lesson

 

In case you missed it, yesterday I hosted a VIP launch of the New Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant.

To help combat signs of ageing, pollution and to promote glowing skin follow this step by step Skin Detox. 

1. Special Cleanding Gel is a foaming cleanser. Mix 5p size amount with water and massage in upward circles around the face for 60 seconds then remove with sponges. 

2. Daily Superfoliant is formulated with alpha hydroxy acids to gently exfoliate the skin. The activated charcoal helps draw out and absorb the impurities from the skin. An anti-pollution complex with niacinamide, red algae and tara flower protect and calm the skin. 

Use 10p size amount and add water to create a cappuccino foam. Massage into the face, neck & decollate avoiding the eye area for 60 seconds. Remove with sponges and notice an instantly brighter complexion. 

3. Spritz using a hydrating spray all over the face neck and decollate so that the moisturiser is evenly absorbed. Antioxidant Hydramist contain peptides and glucosamine to help fight the signs of ageing whilst rehydrating the skin. 

4. Phyto Replenish Oil helps hydrate and repair the skins barrier function. Use 6 drops to massage into the skin or add 4 drops into a moisturiser, primer or foundation for dewy skin. 

5. Dynamic Skin Recovery is a broad spectrum daytime moisturiser that protects the skin from both ultraviolet A and B rays. It's formulated with antioxidants to feed the skin and an Age Smart complex to protect the skin from free radicals. Apply 5p size to face, neck & decollate. 

6. Skin Perfect Primer contains silicones and hydrogenised pearl to leave the skin glowing and an spf 30 to ensure the skin is fully protected from the sun. 

To protect the skin during the day, a teaspoon sized amount of sun protection should be applied to the face. To obtain this amount of sunscreen layer products that contain a medium or high sun protection factor. 

Follow this skin detox regime daily and use the Daily Superfoliant at least 3 times a week for glowing skin. 

Motivation Monday- hill training

Sunday Runday didn't happen because I was up at 3.00am to drive the family down to Fowey for a weeks holiday. Living each day to the full my Aunt and cousin were in town so lunch and family time prevailed over an 11 mile run! 

If any of you readers have children in sure you can understand the lack of sleep on a first night holiday due to unsettled children in a new environment... My two boys, three and under are no exception! 

After only four rough hours of sleep and a cooked breakfast I had to dig deep this morning to find the strength mentally and physically to do my weekly long run. 

Fowey is very hilly but it was lovely to explore on foot, and I ended up running 12 miles around this quaint seaside village! 

Charcoal masque whilst stretching to get my twice weekly exfoliation and masque in... It's all about multi-tasking!! 

Throwback Thursday- VA Cabin Crew to Gold

When I left Virgin Atlantic eight years ago to open my own beauty salon, I never envisioned I would be standing here today as the BABTAC Beauty Therapist of the Year and having won their Gold Award for my contribution to industry! 

I loved flying and had been to every destination that Virgin flew to at the time. It was a wonderful way to see the world with such an amazing mix of people! I used to visit salons and spas in each destination to experience different treatments and get ideas for Orchids Hideaway. 

Another dream of mine was to open my own salon, I had been operating a treatment room out of a spare bedroom for five years and my client base was building. Flying turned into my days of rest because when I was at home my diary was full with clients and I had a waiting list. 

The time had come to spread my wings and open a salon working in beauty full time. A place had just become available in town, so that day I went to look at it and have never turned back. I have always been fervent about the beauty industry and enjoying sharing my knowledge and passion with others.

Feature Friday- FMON & charity

We had a very successful second annual Face Map Our Nation event with 12 women having their face mapped in the skin scanner. 

The skin scanner enables clients to see their skin condition, pigmentation and sometimes damage on a deeper level. It helps them to understand how their current regime or lack of affects their skin with a one-to-one consultation and skin analysis.  Each client received a customised product prescription so they could participate in a skin bar session enabling them to try the products that suited their skin type and lifestyle.

Treatment Thursday- Skin Scanner

We've got a Skincare event on Wednesday 4 March to educate clients about their skin and to launch Dermalogica's new PowerBright TRx range. 

During the event clients will be able to get a more in depth look at their skin by using the skin scanner which reveals the condition of the skin. An ultra-violet light shows the damage beneath the skin so it can be treated before it becomes a major Skincare concern. 

This picture is an example of the color-coding guide that helps take face mapping to a deeper level. 

Skincare Saturday- Spotlight on Spiezia

I was introduced to Spiezia Organic products a few years ago when my Aunt moved to Cornwall, where she discovered them in her local salon in Dartmouth. Having researched them further we set up a meeting with their sales and education team to have an introduction to the 100% Organic product skincare range. We got to see the plant where they create the products and this company was the first to achieve a 100% Organic certification across their ranges in 1999. 

One of my clients is an oncology nurse and I asked her to try the products and research the company to check that they really are pure and cancer friendly.  The managing director of Spiezia founded a charity called Made for Life to provide complimentary support for those diagnosed and recovering from cancer. The charity not only offer pampering using the product range, they're there for support in many other forms too! 

This range does not contain water so the organic products last six months once opened and very little product is necessary because of the dense concentration of ingredients. As with all product ranges some products are better and more effective than others. I don't find the facial cleanser leaves skin feeling as clean as others on the market, but their moisturisers and other products are lovely and can be used in several ways. 

- The intensive moisturiser can be used as a rich facial moisturiser, eye cream, to heal scar tissue and on stretch marks. 
- Soothing leg and foot balm is fantastic for runners and expectant mothers, but it can also be used as a deodorant.  
- Restorative Body Balm is great as a rich body moisturiser, used during pregnancy to prevent stretch marks, heal scar tissue, and is also great as on extra dry areas such as elbows and feet. 
- The baby range is great for all ages from expectant mothers, newborn and adults. The Baby Skin Salve can be used all over the body and is fantastic on nappy rash, milk rash, cradle cap, and other baby ailments that occur from birth. 
- Calendula Ointment is made with a plant that is known for its anti-inflammatory and healing properties.  It helps to sooth eczema, psoriasis, burns, nettle stings, verrucaes and much more.  It can also be used as a skincare product as a facial masque, lip balm, or as a hand balm.
