The importance of SPF

Spring has sprung and the sun is finally shining! UVA and UVB rays are out in force and it's important to protect your skin from sun damage, pigmentation and ageing. One of the best ways you can do this is to wear a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 everyday. Many day creams and make-up products contain sun protection. The recommended about of sunscreen to protect the face is the size of a teaspoon and a shot glass full for the body. Most people don't apply a teaspoon size of moisturizer to their face and decollate everyday, so by layering products that contain SPF it means that your skin is fully protected for about two hours in direct sunlight. Make sure you apply a broad spectrum sunscreen at least 30 minutes before you go outside and reapply every two hours if you're out in the sun all day.
